Sri Lanka’s tainted trio likely to miss series against India, face lengthy ban

Xtra Time Web Desk: The three tainted Sri Lankan cricketers – Kusal Mendis, Danushka Gunathilaka and Niroshan Dickwella are likely to miss the upcoming white ball series against India at home. All the three cricketers were suspended with immediate effect by the Sri Lanka Cricket Board and has been asked to return back to country. The three cricketers has been charged with breaching the bio bubble protocols in England. A video that has emerged on social media shows Kusal Mendis and Niroshan Dickwella roaming on the streets of Durham. None of them were with their masks. More so Mendis was seen holding a cigarette.

As per reports back in Sri Lanka, the trio is likely to serve a lengthy ban. Sri Lanka Cricket will take a final decision only after an investigation once the three cricketers return back home.

Meanwhile, Sri Lanka’s Sports Minister Namal Rajapaksa has also slammed the trio for their poor discipline while stating that the SLC should take strict action against them.

“Opportunity & time can be invested into youngsters to represent the country, in an attempt to revive #Srilanka cricket. However, playing with a lack of intent & poor discipline should not be tolerated. @OfficialSLC must take strict action against players who violate these rules!” tweeted Namal Rajapaksa.
