The injury-prone Indian bowler brought the curtains down after a 20-year-long career on November 1, during the first T20I match against New Zealand at his hometown in New Delhi. His spell of 6/23 against England in the 2003 World Cup will always be remembered as the best bowling figures in the history of the World Cup.

Misbah debuted for Pakistan much later than everyone expected. The legendary cricketer played his very first first-class cricket at the age of 24. Misbah played his last international game in the month of May against the Windies. He became the skipper of the national side at the age of 36 and led the side in 56 Tests, which is most by anyone who captained the side.

Floyd Mayweather, who is an undefeated boxer, made a return from retirement for a brawl against UFC champion Conor McGregor. The legendary boxer again hanged his gloves after he beat McGregor via technical knockout in Round 10 of the most hyped fight in the sports history. He ended his career with an astonishing professional record of 50-0 by surpassing 49-0 record of former boxer  Rocky Marciano.

Gianluigi Buffon

After the four-time FIFA World Cup winner Italy failed to reach the main stage of the tournament since 1958, legendary goal-keeper Gianluigi Buffon hanged his gloves from the international career. The 39-year old goalie made his international debut back in 1997 and made 175 appearance for the nation after that. He won the prestigious 2006 FIFA World Cup with his national side Italy.

The England football team’s all-time top goal-scorer announced the heartbreaking news of his retirement from international football back in August. In his 14 years career with the national team the star striker scored 53 times. In the English premier league, he is currently playing for Everton which is also known as his hometown. Before that he played for Manchester United for 13 long years.
