Serie A: Record setting Cristiano Ronaldo guides Juventus to 2-1 win over Lazio

XtraTime Web Desk: Cristiano Ronaldo scored twice as leaders Juventus secured a convincing 2-1 win over Lazio in Serie E at the Juventus stadium on Monday night. The Portugese footballer achieved a rare milestone, becoming the first player to reach 50 goals in top three European leagues – Premier League, La Liga and Serie E. He also became the fastest to reach 50 goals in the top flight Italian league since his 1985 birth (61 games).

The win took Juventus within four points of winning the ninth successive Serie E title. The side from Turin is now on 80 points from 34 games, eight points clear of second placed Inter Milan.

Juventus was given the lead by Ronaldo in the 51st minute after he converted from a spot kick. The home side was awarded a penalty after VAR showed Ronaldo’s shot being handled by Bastos. Three minutes later the talisman brought up his second goal, playing a one on one with Paolo Dybala. Ciro Immobile reduced the margin for Lazio as he converted from a spot kick with seven minutes from regulation time.

It was the first victory in four games for Maurizio Sarri’s side as they now require only four points to secure the title.
