Image Source: XtraTime[/caption] Debasis Sen, Colombo: Indian batting coach Sanjay Bangar was seen using a new instrument at the nets in Galle ahead of the first test match. The instrument known as Robo arm is specifically made for giving throw downs to the batsmen. In other words it is a ball throwing aid for cricket introduced by the Indian think tank. The instrument is an Indianised version of the ones previously used during the time of Gary Kirsten. The support staff including Bangar, Raghavendra, fielding coach Sridhar has been using this instrument since the recently concluded ICC Champions Trophy. The instrument has been specifically made to suit the support staffs to give throw downs to the likes of Virat Kohli, Cheteshwar Pujara, Rohit Sharma and other batsmen. It is exclusively made by an Indian company with salient features like the release point can be adjusted. According to a support staff, “There are a lot of benefits. It has excellent grip for sweaty hands and is suitable for all. It is easy on shoulders as well as it takes the burden away. It generates speed upto 100 mp/hr.” The batsmen in the Indian team are immensely benefitted as batsmen like Virat Kohli spends a lot of time taking throw downs at nets.
