Rio 2016: Women hockey team began campaign with a 2-2 draw against Japan

Indian women’s hockey team started their Olympic journey with a draw against japan today. In a game when supporters lost hope on the team then they equalized the score with the other Asian team to complete the match 2-2.

Today the Indian women team really stole the show of the match by giving a good chase. They have a long road to go, still the first match will definitely inspire them to hold the speedy team.

Indian eves were beat by the pace of the Japanese. Japan scored their first goal in the first quarter by a penalty corner. Nishikori scored her first international goal. From the beginning of the second quarter also the Japanese started beating Indian eves by their pace. The second goal of the Japanese was also a result of their peaceful attack.

During the third quarter India started coming back into the match. At the beginning of the third quarter Rani Rampal scored the first goal for India. She scored the goal from a penalty corner. However, India missed penalties in the third quarter. At the end of the third quarter India equalized the score. Lilima scored to make the match a draw.

In the fourth Japan came all out to win the match. Indian goalkeeper Savita played brilliant to save several penalties. And at the end of the match Indian eves nulled all the efforts of Japanese and made it a draw. India face Great Britain in their next match.
