Rio 2016: P V Sindhu on the verge of history reaching the final

Internet Desk: Finally P V Sindhu made it! Now she is just one step away from bagging the Olympic Gold. Otherwise she had confirmed at least the Silver, which will be a history in Indian badminton arena.

After defeating the world no.2 in the quarterfinal the Hyderabadi singles shuttler was confident enough to win the semi-final. She beat the world no.6 Nozomi Okuhara of Japan today in straight set. Also the score line will depict that how easily she advanced into the final. She won it by 21-19 21-10.

However, the first set was not easy for Sindhu. Every time she took the lead the Japanese was following her. At first Sindhu had a lead of 5-3. From there match became a tie by 8-8. Then it also became 10-10 to uplift the tense of the Indian supporters. But when she took a lead of 14-10 sthe Japanese further chased her 16-14. Finally Sindhu won the set by 21-19.

The second set was much easier for Sindhu. In this set Sindhu won nine consecutive points. Thus she ended the set by 21-10.

In the final Sindhu has to face the toughest challenge against Carolina Marin of Spain. Marin is currently at the top of world ranking. She won the world championship 2015 beating Saina Nehwal.

Today in wrestling India’s medal contender Babita Kumari lost in her qualifying round. She lost to Maria Prevolaraki of Greece by 5-1. Thus she could not enter the repechage round to win the Bronze at least.
