In the Men’s singles and doubles both he advanced to the next round. Serena Williams also after losing the women’s doubles won her first singles match. However, bad show continued with world no.1 Djokovic as he lost the men’s doubles second round. Coming out of injuries the Olympic is the first tournament for former world no.1 Rafael Nadal. The world No 5 had not played a competitive game since quitting the French Open in May due to a wrist injury. However, he showed a least sign of discomfort during his three matches in Rio 2016. Yesterday he along with Marc Lopez defeated the Argentine pair of Del Porto and Maximo Gonzalez in the men’s doubles. However, it was not an easy match to defeat the Argentine pair. Losing the second set they won the match by 6-3 5-7 6-2. Serena Williams lost the doubles match along with sister Venus Williams. But in the singles she advanced to the second round defeating Alize Cornet of France. This is the first win of Serena against Cornet. She won the match by 7-6(5) 6-2. World no.1 Djokovic made his way out from the Rio 2016 after losing the second round of doubles. He along with Nenad Zimonjic lost to the Brazilian pair. Home favourites Marcelo Melo and Bruno Soares swept past Serbians Novak Djokovic and Nenad Zimonjic 6-4, 6-4.
