Rinku Singh, Ruturaj Gaikwad likely to get selected for Ireland tour in August

Xtra Time Web Desk: Rinku Singh, who had a remarkable IPL season for the Kolkata Knight Riders, will be flying to Ireland for the three-match T20I series against Ireland on August 18, 20, and 23. Singh’s exclusion from the upcoming West Indies tour had caused discontent among Indian cricket fans. However, the selection committee opted not to field a young team against the West Indies, instead preferring to try out different players series by series and keep the main players fresh for the long season ahead.

According to a BCCI source, Singh and other players who performed well in the IPL will be sent to Ireland, as the selection committee aims to avoid trying out everyone at once. Seven players from the Indian ODI team will not be playing the T20I series, as they are crucial for the upcoming Asia Cup in late August. In light of the Asian Games, the selection committee plans to gradually test players and assess their performance.
