Kolkata: India suffers a major blow in the Coca Cola FIFA World Rankings, as the Blue Tigers dropped ten spots to be at 107th in the latest edition. Stephen Constantine’s team has only got better and better in the last couple of years and those results made a significant impact in their FIFA rankings as well. Breaking the top 100 in FIFA rankings was indeed a significant leap in Indian football history. No doubt, the recent drop won’t please the British coach.
Despite the drop, India is still above mighty footballing nations like New Zealand, Jordan, Oman, Bahrain and Korea DPR. India played significantly well in the AFC Asian Cup qualifiers against teams like Kyrgyz Republic and Macau. But the lower ranked teams were not good enough to give India the required push in the ranking.
On the flip side, Germany regained their no.1 spot in the FIFA Team rankings as Brazil dropped a place to be at no.2. Cristiano Ronaldo’s Portugal jumped three places to be at 3rd in the rankings.
