File Pic[/caption] XtraTime Web Desk: Another feather on India skipper Virat Kohli’s cap as he has been named in TIME magazine’s 100 most influential people of 2018 after having a brilliant season last year. The star batsman scored 2818 runs in all formats of the game and beside that he also slammed 11 centuries. Virat’s tally was the third best ever after legendary Kumar Sangakkara and Ricky Ponting. Under his leadership the Men in Blue reach the final of the Champions Trophy, ODI series wins over England, Australia, New Zealand, West Indies and bagged Test series as well over Bangladesh, Australia and Sri Lanka as well. "TIME's annual list of the world's most influential people is a designation of individuals whose time, in our estimation, is now," the magazine said. Legendary Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar wrote about Kohli in the magazine, where he said that Kohli’s "hunger for runs and consistency" has always been top class and now it has become the "hallmark of his game." Tendulkar also talked about India’s journey in the 2008 U-19 World Cup, where Kohli led the side to win the cup. As per Sachin, the U19 World Cup win was very important for the nation as it showed who would represent the Men in Blue in future. "That was the first time I watched this young, passionate player lead India. Today, Virat Kohli is a household name and a champion in cricket. Even back then, his hunger for runs and consistency was remarkable, something that has become the hallmark of his game," Tendulkar said of Kohli. "Virat took the criticism he faced during a disappointing West Indies series and returned home with a goal: to improve not only his technique, but also his fitness level. He's never looked back," Tendulkar said. After listing to this Kohli thanked his idol for the encouraging words on his official twitter handle.”Thank you @sachin_rt paaji for such warm and encouraging words. Truly honored for being able to make it to the @Time's 100 list. #Times100 #grateful ,” said Kohli.
