XtraTime Web Desk: Indian crickets wonder kid Prithvi Shaw has showed the world today why he is the next big thing of the world cricket as he became the youngest Indian to score a ton in his debut by hitting a century in just 99 deliveries on Day 1 of the first test of the two-match series against the Windies in Rajkot.

Getting a chance in place of the openers like Murali Vijay & Shikhar Dhawan; Prithvi looked rock solid in the middle as he reached his ton hitting 15 glorious boundaries. While doing so he also became the fourth youngest batsman in this format to hit a ton after Mohammad Ashraful, Hamilton Masakadza and Saleem Malik.

Prithvi came to the limelight when he scored a record breaking 546 runs for Rizvi Springfield vs St Francis D’ Assisi in the Harris Shield match to become the first schoolboy to score more than 500 runs in a an affiliated inter-school game.

Not only that he also became the first Indian cricketer to hit a ton on the debut of Ranji Trophy, Duleep Trophy and today in his first test match as well.. In this he is ahead of legendary Sachin Tendulkar. Sachin had a century in his Ranji debut and Duleep Trophy debut, but he needed 13 matches to his maiden test ton.

Another record for him is that, Prithvi, at 18 years and 329 days, became the second youngest to open the batting for India on Test debut. Only Vijay Mehra is ahead of him, who achieved the same when he was 17 years and 265 days.

Shaw became the second-youngest Indian test cricketer after Vijay Mehra, who made his debut at 17 years, 265 days against New Zealand in 1955 and he was the 13th youngest Indian cricketer overall to play a Test match.
