The Spanish team got the lead in the 53rd minute of the match. It was a very hard won victory for them against the Brazilian team. Gremio beat Mexican side Pachuca to secure the place into the final. The start was brilliant as Benzema’s effort was deflected behind. Ronaldo’s shot went wide. Isco fired over a shot as well. In the dying moments of first half Ronaldo got a chance but, couldn’t connect well.

Madrid pressed early in the second half. CR7 was tripped just outside the box by Jailson and got a free kick. Ballon d’Or winner placed his free-kick over the wall and placed it into the bottom left corner to break the deadlock.

Gremio was forced to play attacking football but in vain as they had a lack of intensity in their attacking unit. Real got another chance as Ronaldo’s goal ruled out for offside. Gremio goalkeeper Marcelo Grohe saved an effort of Luka Modric. Later Bale replaced Benzema. Bale’s shot forced Grohe into another good save.
