Xtra Time Web Desk: Ace India spinner Ravichandran Ashwin on Thursday reached the milestone of 400 test wickets. The off spinner achieved the milestone by removing England’s Ollie Pope with a peach of a delivery to join the elite 400-club in Test cricket during the second day of the Pink Ball Test against England at the Narendra Modi Stadium.

Ashwin is now the fourth Indian bowler to join the elite club of 400 + test wicket members. Former leg spinner Anil Kumble, Kapil Dev and Harbhajan Singh are the other three bowlers to achieve the milestone. Ashwin is also the second quickest bowler after legendary Muttiah Muralitharan to claim 400 wickets in the longest and oldest format of the gentlemen’s game.

After Team India’s rare middle-order collapse on Day 2 of the ongoing pink-ball Test match, veteran spinner Ravichandran Ashwin staged an impressive fightback for the hosts with fellow spinner Axar Patel at the newly reconstructed stadium. He not only inspired a remarkable comeback of the hosts but the seasoned campaigner also entered his name in the history books.
