Internet Desk: The first Silver Medalist shuttler of India P V Sindhu recieveda grand welcome by the people of Telangana. From the airport to her arrival to the Gachibowli stadium of Hyderabad she was waved by lakhs of people. Amidst that there has been announcement of Sindhu to hand over a BMW car by cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar.
At 9:40am P V Sindhu arrived at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport of Hyderabad. The reserved gate of the airport was opened today to welcome the Olympic Medalist.
Sindhu and her coach P Gopichand were welcomed by her parents PV Ramana and P Vijaya. Telangana Deputy Chief Minister Mohd Mahmood Ali and some ministers from the state of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh also joined the welcome party.
They were carried by an open hood bus towards the stadium. Both the proud shuttler and her coach were on the roof top of the bus to receive the grand party of mass. The road became full of school children and tricolor.
Sindhu arrives at Gachibowli stadium at 12:40pm. She took the victory parade on a jeep arriving the stadium.
“Thank you all for the blessings, I thank my parents for supporting and motivating me and I thank the government, it made my day,” Ms Sindhu said to the cheering crowd at the stadium.
Politicins and sportspersons greeted Sindhu on stage at the stadium, where the Telangana government has organised a grand welcome. The stands are packed with people, including school children holding up big Sindhu posters.
“Hats off to women for saving our face in front of the world,” said Mr Gopichand, who has now trained two Olympic medallists in her and Saina Nehwal.
Both the Telangana and Andhra Pradesh Governemnet have announced grand prizes. Telangana governemnet to give Sindhu award of Rs. 5cr while Andhra Pradesh governement announced a job and Rs. 3crore.
Meanwhile PV Sindhu will be presented a car, a BMW that will be handed to her by her favourite sportsman and cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar. The car is from V Chamundeswarnath, the president of India’s badminton association.
