Xtra Time[/caption] Kolkata: The coach who was dethroned by the Mohun Bagan club authorities, received the highest award of the club on the Mohun Bagan day. Syed Nayeemuddin was awarded with the Mohun Bagan Ratna today at the club ground. "A player appeared holding the hand of Jyotish Guha of East Bengal is now Mohun Bagan Ratna. I am elated. I show my gratitude to everybody who helped me reach here", said humbled Nayeemuddin. The former Mohun Bagan as well as Mohun Bagan coach received Rs. 1 lakh from the club with the award.This year the Mohun Bagan day was celebrated in a very brief and ordinary manner. Most of the players were absent along with the award winning players like Jeje and Sony Norde. Best foreign player to win the Late Karuna Shankar Bhattacharya award, Sony Norde as well as best Indian counterpart of the same award Jeje Lalpekhlua were absent. Among the cricketers of Mohun Bagan, 'Trimukut' winner Wriddhiman Saha was also absent as he is with the Indian team in  West Indies. Award of Jeje was taken over by a member of Indian Football Players Association. The programme was inaugurated by the song of former footballer Sibaji Chattopadhyay. Among the award winners among mountaineers Malay Mukherjee was present. However, another mountaineer Debraj Dutta could not join the programme as he is out with an expedition. Bengal state minister MoS of Sports Laxmi Ratan Shukla was also present to receive his award. However, the programme was enlightened by former players like Chuni Goswami, Prasanta Banerjee, Sisir Ghosh and Shyam Thapa were present along with present players like Debjit Majumder and Kinshuk Debnath.
