Olympic Day: Sania Mirza focusing on Tokyo Games next year
XtraTime Web Desk: Indian tennis ace Sania Mirza on Tuesday said she is setting her sights on Tokyo Olympics next year. In a video message shared on her twitter handle Sania said, “As an athlete playing at the Olympics has always been a dream. I have fulfilled that dream on three previous occasions. I came close to winning a medal last time and it has driven me to try and compete at another Olympics which is going to happen next year.”
The six time Grand Slam winner Sania also wished fellow athletes on the Olympic Day.
“I together with the sports fraternity would like to congratulate and celebrate the Olympic Day and I wished all the athletes a very best,” said Sania.
Sania has so far participated in the Games three times, playing in Beijing (2008), London (2012) and Rio (2016). Her best ever finish came in Rio, where she lost the bronze-medal match in the mixed doubles category, losing 1-6, 5-7 against Lucie Hradecka and Radek Stepanek of the Czech Republic.
Sania took a break from tennis for two years after she was pregnant. She returned to action at the Hobart Open early this year. The former World No 1 doubles player was seen working out on her fitness in the video shared by her.
She hopes to be in Tokyo for the Olympics, which is scheduled to begin on July 23, 2021. The Tokyo Olympics has been postponed until 2021 by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) due to the COVID-19 epidemic.

On the other hand, we denounce with righteous indignation and dislike men who are so beguiled and demoralized by the charms of pleasure of the moment
