Wriddhiman voices for a team effort in the Champions Trophy

Kolkata: After achieving a major milestone of being the no 1 wicket taker of the women’s ODI, Indian pacer Jhulan Goswami was honoured by having a cricket ball of her name. The “Bengal Tigress” (ball) has been made by B.Dasgupta in accordance with SS Sports. Wriddhiman Saha and Uptal Chatterjee was present at the inauguration today.

The Bengal pacer said that she doesn’t have enough time to cherish this wonderful event as she would be leaving for Mumbai for the Indian Camp and would eventually leave the country on 11th to Play at the ICC Women’s World Cup.

“We have a huge targets now before us and that particular moment we celebrated as a team. I also celebrated a little with my family and it ends there as we have a the World Cup and I need to be fully focused for that” said Jhulan today at the premier.

Jhulan is grateful to her coaches and also her team mates.”Yes it is a big moment for me and I would like to thank all my coaches, trainers and physios for this moment. i would also like to thank my family for being their through my ups and downs and also my friends for being there always and for tolerating my nonsense and all my madness.” said Goswami

The Indian pacer said she didn’t start playing cricket for achieving these but played the sport as a passion. But after playing for a certain period of time, milestones reaches a persons life and as a result it felt great for her to achieve these milestones for her.

Records are meant to be broken and Goswami too believes that someday her record of being the highest wicket taker in women’s ODI would also be broken.And she too believes that her record should be broken some day.”After Sourav Ganguly, Wriddhiman is the next player that has been dominatingly consistently in the test format. Credit must be given to him and I want him to represent India in the coming years and motivate the upcoming generation” said Goswami on Indian wicket keeper Wriddhiman Saha

If given an opportunity the Indian women’s team would meet and discuss about the tournament with the Indian mens cricket team. Jhulan praised the BCCI for promiting Women Cricket at the grassroot level which in turn would be benefitial of the country in the long run.

According the Indian bowler, India has a tough group in the ICC Champions trophy but with the quality of the squad and the current form she is certain that the team would fair well.

Facing Pakistan in the first match at the World Cup would be a challenging job but Jhulan thinks that she and her team are mentally prepared to face the tough challenge.

“This has been a huge achievent for Jhulan I am certain this would be boost her confidence and would her play well in the world Cup. A world record is always huge and respectable irrespective of it being made by a male or a female” said Wrtiddhiman Saha.

The Indian keeper thinks that India are favourites to win the Champions Trophy.
“A new wall will be used in the Champions Trophy and it will be an advantage as it will be beneficial for scoring more runs since the ball will be hard” said Saha.

“If the players perform their job correctly then the team will succeed irrespective of the opponent” said Saha on India’s chances on winning the tournament.

Wriddhiman Saha also went all praise for Virat Kolhi and he is certain that he would perform well in the tournament.
