Xtra Time Web Desk: A Mason Mount goal in the second half was enough to see England move on top of the group in the Nations League after a 2-1 win over Belgium at the Wembley stadium on Sunday. Belgium took the lead in the 16th minute through Romelu Lukaku. The visitors were awarded a penalty after Eric Dier’s misjudged challenge in the box on Romelu Lukaku. The former Manchester United made no mistake from the spot kick. Gareth Southgate’s side levelled the score against the run of play from a penalty scored by Marcus Rashford in the 39th minute. The hosts were awarded the spot kick after Thomas Meunier had pulled back Jordan Henderson inside the box.

England took the lead in the 64th minute as Mason Mount’s effort deflected off Toby Alderweireld and into the top corner, and though Yannick Carrasco missed a clear chance to level, England too could have extended their lead through sub Harry Kane and Rashford, both directing big chances wide.

The result means England leapfrog the world’s top-ranked side into top spot in UEFA Nations League Group A2, leading by a single point after three games, as Gareth Southgate’s side prepare to host Denmark on Wednesday at Wembley again.
