Xtra Time Web Desk : FIFA on Monday announced the winners of The 'Best' awards for the year 2021-22, virtually. And after missing out on Ballon d'Or, it was Robert Lewandowski who tipped the likes of Lionel Messi and Mohamed Salah to claim FIFA's best Men's Player award.

The Polish striker has been in stupendous form over the past two years or so. The record breaking Bayern Munich striker, earlier missed out on Ballon d'Or to Lionel Messi which created controversies all around. But this time, it was Lewandowski who emerged as the triumphant.

Apart from Robert Lewandowski, it was Cristiano Ronaldo again who took the limelight on the Gala stage once again, as he won FIFA's 'Special' award for breaking the record of most international goals. Earlier, the Portuguese hadn't been included in the top 3 finalists for the Men's Best Player award, but was acknowledged finally for his 'special' achievement on the night.

Apart from the above, Chelsea's Edouard Mendy won the best Goalkeeper award beating Donnarumma alongside his coach Thomas Tuchel, who won FIFA's Best Coach award.

Alexia Putellas of Barcelona and Spain, also the women's Ballon d'Or winner, won FIFA's Best Women's player award on Monday night.
