This was the second time the Catalans failed to secure full points since the re-start of the league. Barcelona took the lead in the 20th minute of the match through Luis Suarez. The Uruguyan International took advantage of some schoolboy defending from Celta Vigo to head home from a Messi freekick.

The home team restored parity in the 50th minute when Smolov converted a cross from Okay. Suarez was on target again for Barcelona. Barca captain Lionel Messi sent a perfect pass to his teammate who spun and fired into net to give his side 2-1 lead in the 67th minute. As it looked like the visitors will walk away with full points, Celta equalized in the dying minutes of the match. The home team was awarded a freekick outside the Barca box. Iago Aspas with a curler from 23 meters left Ter Stegen watching the ball go inside.

Saturday’s result leaves Barcelona on shaky ground in the LaLiga title race, as Real Madrid can now take a two point lead over them if they can win against Espanyol on Sunday.
