XtraTime Web Desk: Virat Kohli scores one of his finest hundreds in test cricket as the game is on the balance at the end of Day 2 against England at Edgbaston.

Virat Kohli was dropped twice but the Indian skipper batted heroicly as he single-handedly led India’s reply after the hosts were bowled out fot 287. Sam Curran put England ahead with 3 wickets in the first session. Kohli slowly found his touch after a nervous start, scoring his first boundary after 47 deliveries. Once he reached fifty, he was unstoppable even as England kept pegging India back with regular strikes at the other end. Kohli reached his first ever ton in England and celebrated with his usual vigour. He then forged a crucial 57-run partnership with Umesh for the final wicket by expertly shielding the tailender and scoring quick runs. The Indian captain finally fell, cutting legspinner Adil Rashid straight to backward point with his team conceding a paltry lead of 13 runs.

Before the close of play Ashwin castled Cook in similar fashion to the first innings to help India finish the day with a bang.

Brief Score: England 287 & 9/1
