XtraTime Web Desk: Finally, some good news for the Indian cricket fans as the Men in Blue finally showed their true colours on the English soil thanks to a brilliant batting by skipper Virat Kohli (98) and vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane (81). At the end of day 1 of the third test in Nottingham India reached 307 runs for the loss of 6 wickets. Winning the toss England skipper Joe Root sent the visitors to bat first on an overcast condition. Both the openers Shikhar Dhawan (35) and KL Rahul (23) started well for India but failed to capitalize on it. After sharing a partnership of 60 runs for the first wicket they both became the victim of ace England all-rounder Chris Woakes. Cheteshwar Pujara's poor form continued as he got out on 14. After that captain Virat Kohli and vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane held the innings together and shared a partnership of 159 runs for the fourth wicket which gave the stability to the hosts. They both hit 11 and 12 boundaries respectively. Rahane was very much unfortunate as his catch from the delivery of Stuart Broad was brilliantly taken by Alastair Cook at the first sleep. Captain Kohli got out on nervous 90s as he was again dismissed by English spinner Adil Rashid. Hardik Pandya got on 18 to become James Anderson's first wicket in this match. Debutante Rishabh Pant was at the crease on 22 when the umpires decided to call off the day's play. Woakes was the most successful bowler for the home side with 3 wickets. With Ravichandran Ashwin yet to come tomorrow, if the two manages to play well and take the score over 400 that would be great for Kohli & his team as the pitch is helping the bowlers and besides that it has uneven bounce as well. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1tw_CstPXfQ
