Debasis Sen, Centurion: Indian captain Virat Kohli looked quite agitated after the umpires stopped play due to bad light 5.1 overs following the resumption of play in the third session of Day 3 of the second Test at the Super Sport Park in Centurion. Kohli was seen fuming as he walked up to the match referee’s room to express his displeasure with the umpire’s decision to hurry in with the match.
Kohli was soon joined by manager Sunil Subramaniam and Caoch Ravi Shastri. The Indian captain was seen having an argument with the Broad.
According to sources, the Indian captain was expressing his displeasure of having to rush in with the game as the outfield was quite wet. The bowlers found it difficult to grip the ball as it was wet after every time it went to the outfield. Not only were the medium pacers, even Ravichandran Ashwin was also finding it difficult to grip the wet ball.
Jasprit Bumrah also expressed his concerns about the wet outfield. According to Bumrah, “Yeah the ball was swinging a little bit so the field being wet, both sides of the ball got wet so the ball doesn’t swing anymore. We were just having a word with the umpire that the ball is wet so the ball won’t swing anymore. We were having a chat about what could be done in that situation.
Even Ashwin was finding it difficult to grip the ball.
“No when we went inside the ground the outfield was wet so the ball went to the boundary sides so it got wet. So we asked the umpire to take a note of the situation,” said Bumrah.
