Image Source : twitter@CricketAus[/caption] Internet Desk : New Zealand thrashed Australia by a huge margin of 159 runs at Eden Park in Auckland . The mighty Aussies could not resist their full quota of 25 overs. It was New Zealand's second-biggest ODI win over Australia in terms of runs; the only larger victory was the 206-run margin secured at Adelaide Oval in 1986, when Richard Hadlee and Ewen Chatfield ran through the Australian top order. This was Australia’s biggest defeat in terms of overs they sustained while chasing. Earlier, Australia won the toss and chose to field on a 22-yards which was a bit tricky comparing to New Zealand pitches as this was on the slower side. But Australia’s inexperienced bowling attack could not put any pressure on the Kiwi batsmen as both  Starc and Johnson were hugely missed . Kiwi opening batsmen Martin Guptill and Brendon McCullum began scoring quickly. McCullum made a quickfire 29 balls 44 runs comprising 3 big sixes and 5 boundaries which helped him to get past 6000 ODI career runs but was later clean bowled by Josh Hazlewood. This was Baz’s last ODI series before he packs his kit for the final time after playing the test series against Aussies later this month. Guptill did not restrict himself from taking big shots even after the quick dismissal of McCullum and Wiilliamson for a duck . His 90 from 76 balls today included five sixes .Guptill had never bettered 64 against the Australians previously, but today he put the proverbial cat amongst the pigeons with a sizzling display of stroke-play that had the Black Caps reach 3-182 after just 25 overs. Henry Nicholls also supported Guptill from the other end scoring 61 from 67 balls comprising of 6 boundaries and a maximum. None better than this from Guptill, a 113-metre monster that landed on the roof at Eden Park. Judging by his reaction, he was pretty happy with how it came off the bat. Maxwell missed out with the bat but he again enhanced his reputation in the field with this brilliant direct hit to catch Guptill short of his ground. Aussie bowlers were thrashed all around the ground giving away almost 6 runs a over barring John Hastings who was impressive just sparing 39 runs from his 10 overs taking the price wicket of Corey Anderson who was just settling down. Anderson was out for 10 runs from 20 balls. New Zealand posted 307 for 8 from 50 overs with Mitchell Marsh, James Faulkner and Josh Hazlewood claiming 2 wickets each and John Hastings with a wicket. Chasing scores around 300 might have proved simple for the Australians against India last month on the flat pitches at home, but on a slowish Eden Park surface and against a quality pace attack, it was not so easy. In fact, Australia had done well to even drag New Zealand's total back to 307 for 8, after Martin Guptill started the innings off with 90 before the 25-over mark. But Australia's attack, missing Mitchell Starc who had taken six wickets in last year's game, lacked penetration. Australia in their reply started on a disastrous note with Henry getting Shaun Marsh caught at slip for 5 in the second over . Captain Steven Smith played on to Henry for 18 followed by David Warner , who was adjudged lbw to Boult for 12 . Australia was reduced to 41-6 after 9 overs . A partnership of 79 runs between Wade and Faulkner was not enough for the Aussies as they succumbed to their biggest defeat in terms of overs sustained .  Both the sides next play in Wellington on Saturday for the Second one dayer .
