Kolkata: If things go according to the plan, then Kingfisher East Bengal might hand their new coach a two years' contract tomorrow. After a series of discussions, it is decided that I-League winning Aizawl FC coach Khalid Jamil will be coming to Kolkata tomorrow to sign for the Red amd Gold brigade. Right when all the I-League clubs are struggling to build a formidable squad, Khalid's inclusion will no doubt be a great success for the East Bengal officials. The Mumbai based coach is expected to arrive at Kolkata on Wednesday to sign the contract.
A top East Bengal official told www.xtratime.in , "Yes, Khalid had a few discussions with us and will most likely be the coach as well for the new season, he might arrive at Kolkata at any point of time."
The speculations were there from the moment he lifted the title in the last season. I-League winning Aizawl FC Head Coach Khalid Jamil became the “most wanted” coach in Indian football after his miraculous success with Aizawl FC. Both the Kolkata Giants didn’t waste any time to offer the former India international. The East Bengal officials met Khalid during the AIFF Annual Awards as well a few days back. In the meeting, Khalid got impressed with the proposal and it is learned that he would be earning sixty lakh rupees per year in his new contract.
