Xtra Time Web Desk : Team India's Test Vice Captain for the Proteas Series, KL Rahul has opened up on 'dropping' Ajinkya Rahane from the starting XI. In a pre match interview on BCCI.tv, the 29 year old opener has labelled the call of dropping Rahane as a 'Very Difficult' one.

Answering about whether to select Vihari, Rahane or Iyer in the starting XI, Rahul stated, "It’s a very, very difficult decision to make. Ajinkya has been a very important part of our Test team and has played very, very crucial knocks in his career. The last 15-18 months, if I can think back, the knock in Melbourne was crucial. That partnership with Pujara at Lord’s in the second innings… ended up in us winning. He is a key player… a very, very strong player.”

Also talking about Shreyas Iyer, the Team India batter on Friday said, "Shreyas has taken his chances, he played a brilliant knock in Kanpur. As I said, it’s a tough decision.”

Now, with the Vice Captain himself labelling the call as 'difficult' it would be interesting to see if the Team management goes with Ajinkya Rahane or Shreyas Iyer.
