ISL 2018/19: Delhi Dynamos keen to grab a victory against Jamshedpur FC

XtraTime Web Desk:
Another interesting game on the cards in Hero Indian Super League (ISL), as Delhi Dynamos to take on Jamshedpur FC.

Delhi Dynamos have been the lowest scoring team this season and that illustrates their position on the league table. Three goals, three points, three draws and three losses is how one-third of the season flew past for the Lions.

Coming off a 2-0 loss at the hands of current table toppers NorthEast United, Josep Gombau’s star signings have failed him incredibly in each passing game. While Rene Mihelic remained out of the squad due to a bout of diarrhoea, Marcos Tebar and Andrija Kaludjerovic had little impact midweek.

The constant chop and change between Romeo Fernandes and Nandhakumar Sekar on the right flank has only added to the uncertainty surrounding the stability of the squad. The backline has remained constant despite conceding goals and Gombau’s team selection has come under the scanner.

Francisco Dorronsoro has been the standout performer for the Delhi side as without the Spanish goalkeeper, their team would have risked shipping in much more than 8 goals. However, one wonders why Gombau has not played Albino Gomes and had five foreigners in the outfield.

Spirits will currently be high in the Jamshedpur camp. After their opening round win at Mumbai City, Cesar Ferrando’s men played out four successive draws and followed it up with a thumping 4-1 win over Goa at home on Thursday.

Having remained unbeaten, the Men of Steel have found the back of the net in each game they have played. Ferrando’s rotational policy while questioned by many has reaped benefits of late with most of his players looking fresh despite fixtures coming in thick and fast.

Tim Cahill will be expected to come back to lead the line before he jets off to Sydney to play his testimonial match in Socceroos’ colours on 20 November. Gourav Mukhi, Pablo Morgado and Robin Gurung look like the expected names that will drop to the bench from the last game.

Ferrando will be buoyed by Soosairaj’s brace in the last game as it meant he doesn’t only have to depend on foreigners on the attacking front. Jamshedpur had Delhi’s number twice last season and they will be looking to do so once again.

Delhi will play their sixth game in 19 days as the pressure mounts on Gombau to deliver a win. Jamshedpur would be itching to go top of the table with only a point in Delhi promising that. But Cahill & Co. will be looking to go for the full monty.
