Rajasthan Royals won the toss and chose to bat first. Yashasvi Jaiswal played a career best knock of 77 runs,. His 43 ball knock was studded with 8 boundaries and 4 sixes. Dhruv Jurel (34 off 15) and Devdutt Padikkal (27 off 13) played crucial cameos at the end to take the team to a total of 202 runs, which is the first 200-plus total at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in IPL history.

In response, Chennai Super Kings struggled to get going, with R Ashwin (2/35) and Adam Zampa (3/22) taking five wickets between them to restrict the opposition to 170/7 in their 20 overs. Shivam Dube was the top scorer for CSK with 52 runs off 33 balls. Moeen Ali (23 off 12) and Ravindra Jadeja (23 off 15) did launch into the RR bowling towards the later stages but it was not enough. Sanju Samson's captaincy was impressive as he marshalled his troops well and made smart tactical decisions. With this win, Rajasthan Royals also ended Chennai Super Kings' three-match winning streak in Jaipur.

The win took Rajasthan Royals to the top of the IPL points table, tied on 10 points with Chennai Super Kings after 8 games.
