Xtra Time Web Desk: Team India Head Coach Ravi Shastri, who will have his contract with BCCI terminated after the ongoing T20 World Cup 2021, is likely to be signed as the coach of Ahmedabad franchise. As per reports in Cricbuzz, Shastri along with Bharat Arun and R Sridhar has been approached by the franchise to take over the role.

As per information received, all three has been approached during their stay in Dubai by CVC , the promoters of the new team. Shastri, focused on the team's World Cup campaign, did not want any distractions and has sought time till the end of the World Cup, to decide.

The report also revealed that Shastri himself is open to a coaching stint with an IPL team even if it is at the cost of a potential return to commentary. He was a household name before joining the coaching stint.

Association with an IPL team may prevent him from earning a direct commentary contract with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) because of the Conflict of Interest rules but he would try to sign up with the broadcaster directly, like VVS Laxman who has managed to do commentary while also being involved with an IPL franchise (as a mentor of Sunrisers Hyderabad).

CVC Capitals, the promoters of the Ahmedabad franchise, are understood to be eager to close the matter early as they want to build a team culture from the very beginning.
