Subhabrata Mukherjee : On Friday at Wankhede stadium Mumbai Chennai Super Kings registered their first win in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL 2021) 14 th edition by beating Punjab Kings by 6 wickets. Dhoni's men would be really happy that after their dismal performance with the ball versus Delhi they bounced back to register their first win of the season.

Punjab Kings batted first on Friday. They started their innings of in the worst possible fashion. Chennai pacers and Ravindra Jadeja's heroic in the field restricted them. Jadeja took a blinder to dismiss Chris Gayle. Ran Rahul out with another piece of brilliance in the field. Once Punjab were 26/5 . Putting 100 runs on the board seemed impossible for them. Deepak Chahar was brilliant with the ball. He returned with a figure of 4-1-13-4. His ability to swing the ball both ways had no answer from Mayank,Gayle, Hooda and Pooran as Ravi Shastri also lauded his performance. New comer Shah Rukh Khan was the only bright spot for Punjab with the bat as he scored 47 runs from 36 balls and took his team's score past 100.

Chasing a modest total of 107 runs to win the match Chennai lost Ruturaj Gaikwad early for just 5 runs. But partnership between Moeen Ali and Faf du Plessis ensured that there is no hiccups. Moeen scored 46 runs from 31 balls. Du Plessis remained not out on 36 runs as he took his side to comfortable victory. Shami took two wickets for Punjab but that was not good enough.
