XtraTime Web Desk: Indian Premier League (IPL) franchisees Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Mumbai Indians (MI) might not be able to train outdoor after six day quarantine period in hotel due to different COVID-19 norms in Abu Dhabi. Compared to the six day quarantine in Dubai, visitors entering Abu Dhabi will have to go through 14 days quarantine period.

The Knight Riders were supposed to start training from Thursday while Mumbai Indians were to resume training outdoor from Friday. But the strict COVID-19 guidelines in Abu Dhabi will force both the teams to stay indoors. Literally both the teams are upset with the quarantine norms which were not known to the respective team management.

In comparison all the six teams that are staying in Dubai will be allowed to train outdoors after staying in quarantine for 6 mandatory days during which all the cricketers and support staffs were tested thrice for COVID-19. These different sets of quarantine rules in the two emirates have pegged the franchises plans by a week.

“We have requested BCCI to intervene. We were told we have to follow 7 days quarantine period but now it has come to our knowledge that as per the local norms we will be in 14 days quarantine”, said member of the support staff attached with the Mumbai Indians team.

The Kolkata franchise reached UAE on August 20, while Mumbai Indians reached Abu Dhabi on August 21. The different Covid-19 norms in the two Emirates have also put BCCI in fix and as they are yet to release the schedule for the IPL 2020.
