Manoj had to miss out the RPSG tie against Delhi Daredevils, as he had to rush to Kolkata to perform the last rites. The Bengal captain has been going through some tough times during the last few days, but in spite of it Manoj is determined to do well not only for RPSG but also for his late father who always inspired him to do well on the field. “I had a very tough last few days. My family members and my closed friends also have been through some tough times. My dad always wanted me to do well. That is the reason I am back here with the (RPSG) team. I know dad is somewhere near me, very close to my heart. He would want me to do well wherever he is now,” said an emotional Manoj to xtratime.in Manoj also added, “I take this opportunity to thank all the people, friends, well wishers who sent me condolence messages on social media and twitter. I am deeply touched to see all the messages. My father was a very simple and honest person. I will miss him throughout my life.” Manoj came to know about the news on the morning of the match against Delhi Daredevils. When did you come to hear the news about your father’s death? RPSG started the tournament with a bang but back to back losses have seen them going again on back foot. Manoj though feel its early days in the tournament. “I would say it is too early in the tournament. I did not followed the last match. All I can say is we need to start winning matches. We have seen in the past in IPL, there are teams making a comeback after losing the first five matches. There are still 14 matches left. So, we have to believe in ourselves and start winning matches.” On being asked about Ben Stokes, Manoj feel, “He is been doing well. More importantly he is batting well. I believe the big one is round the corner. We can be rest assured that the best is yet to come from Stokes.” Another Indian cricketer Rishabh Pant also lost his father recently during the ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League.
