IND vs AFG, 3rd T20I: India edge out Afghanistan after two Super Overs

Xtra Time Web Desk: In a thrilling encounter, India emerged victorious against Afghanistan in the third T20 International after two intense super overs at the M Chinnaswamy stadium on Wednesday. Chasing a formidable target of 212, Afghanistan matched India’s score, leading to a dual super over showdown. In the first super over, India equalled Afghanistan’s 16 runs, forcing a continuation. However, in the second super over, Rohit Sharma’s team secured the required two wickets through Ravi Bishnoi, preventing Afghanistan from chasing down the target of 12.

Rohit Sharma played a pivotal role in India’s remarkable recovery, scoring his fifth T20 century with an unbeaten 121 off 69 balls. Rinku Singh contributed significantly with his second half-century, making 69 off 39 deliveries. India had a challenging start, losing four quick wickets to Afghanistan pacers, including dismissals of Yashasvi Jaiswal, Virat Kohli, and Sanju Samson for golden ducks. Fareed Ahmad Malik stood out as Afghanistan’s most successful bowler, ending with impressive figures of 3/20.

Despite the early setbacks, Sharma and Singh stabilized India’s innings and aggressively tackled the Afghan bowlers. Sharma’s century marked his highest individual T20I score and made him the only player with five centuries in the shorter format. India posted a formidable total of 212/4 in 20 overs. In reply, Afghanistan, led by Gulbadin Naib’s quick-fire 55, matched the target but fell short in the super overs, resulting in a thrilling victory for Rohit Sharma’s side.
