Internet Desk: Two consecutive losses, conceding two silly goals and more importantly some serious lack of intent by the forwards cost East Bengal another disappointment at Chennai despite taking the crucial lead in the first half. Coach Trevor Morgan tried all his tricks to snatch a vital win, but the Red and Gold custodian presented two horrible goalkeeping howlers to allow the South Indian club to make a huge upset in the I-League 2017.

The East Bengal gaffer Trevor Morgan told www.xtratime.in , “The problem was not the amount of chances we missed, we are having serious problems in holding big, physical foreign forwards in the second leg. Unfortunately, my defenders have shown this inability in three games in the second phase now, which costed us 9 points already.” The British Coach added, “Rehenesh made two silly errors today and in this standard, if you make such mistakes you just cannot win games. But Rehenesh had a great season so far and made significant contributions for us. The problem for a goalkeeper is, he becomes guilty if he commits a single mistake, because it will be a goal! But if a forward miss chances after chances, he still won’t be a victim if he finds the target at least once. Feeling bad for Rehenesh but that’s how it is.” He also said, “Even during their second goal, our defense literally surrendered themselves against the big and physically strong forward. I’m always a positive professional but those incidents are hard to digest.”

The Red and Gold boss also mentioned that the league is still wide open and he will try his best till the end, “Well, it was a disappointing result but the league is still open. At the same time, we have to depend on the other teams’ results now after today’s loss.”

The East Bengal gaffer will be off to Australia for a vacation tomorrow as he said, “I will be off to Australia tomorrow and I’m waiting for my ticket. I will return back to Kolkata probably on the 24th or 25th of March.”

The East Bengal Secretary Kalyan Majumder has once again showed disdain towards his team and the coach as he said to www.xtratime.in , “I knew this team will not win the league. As simple as that. I am not surprised and bothered about saying anything else.”

Though, the moment the East Bengal coach was asked about the reaction of the club Secretary, he politely said, “Not interested to comment on his remarks.”
