IFA set to build a”Striker Academy”

XtraTime Web Desk: IFA secretary Joydeep Mukherjee is taking a great initiative for the betterment of Bengal Football. He is all set to build a “Striker Academy” comprising of promising forwards of Bengal. Joydeep has called a meeting at the IFA on Monday to discuss on this matter.

It is learnt that the academy will have U-13, U-15 & U-17 footballers. A scout team will find 20 promising strikers from all parts of West Bengal and they will be trained by some great names of Indian football. Former Indian footballers like Biswajit Bhattacharya, Sisir Ghosh, Dipendu Biswas, Sanjay Majhi and others will train those young talents. And the person who will head this academy is none other than Indian Football legend Tulsidas Balaram.

Beside Rabindra Sarovar Stadium, the IFA has a plan of forming another Striker Academy in a district of West Bengal. IFA has a plan to sell those Bengali strikers in future as well after they get all the trainings in the academy.

IFA’s goalkeeper academy is running successfully for a long period of time under the guidance of of Tanumoy Bose. On being asked about the whole scenario, IFA Secretary Joydeep Mukherjee said,” If we can make a good bunch of Bengali goalkeepers and strikers it will help Bengal football in near future.”
