ICC U19 WC: This is what Prithvi & Ishan’s family said ahead of the tournament

Sabyasachi Bagchi, Kolkata: Three times winner India and Australia are set to face each other in their first match in U-19 World Cup on Sunday. According to the experts it will be a very tough challenge for India but, the Blue colts are also a very good side.

Ishan Porel, skipper Prithvi Shaw and other players are chasing the dream to play for senior Indian team. Co incidentally both the players are from a bengali family. Ishan already played for Bengal and perform well in the Ranji Trophy, on the other hand skipper Prithvi plays for Mumbai as he stays there with his father.

Prithvi’s grandfather was a businessman in stayed in Kolkata but later he moved to Mumbai. This Right handed batsman lost his mother at the age of 3. His father Pankaj Shaw enrolled his name in Virar Cricket Academy in Mumbai and gave up his business. He never saw his son’s batting as he believes in superstition. He prayed for his son at Siddhivinayak Temple at Mumbai today ahead of his son’s first game in the U-19 World Cup.

While talking to www.xtratime.in Pankaj he said, ” I waited for this day to come for a long time. This is the first time that I have received this amount of calls from various people. Sometimes its irritating but it’s all for Prithvi who made me proud. He is now representing India in the big stage and to me it is a proud moment.”

Ishan is from Bengal and he has a sports background as his grandfather and his father played Kabadi. His father Chandra Nath Porel was a National level Kabadi player. This young fast bowler bowled brilliantly in the practice match against South Africa as he picked four wickets by giving 28 runs. His mother Rita Porel said, “I never felt this much tensed before, not even when Ishan gave his board exams. He is now repressing India . It’s a big moment for us.”

Chandannagar, Ishan’s home town dressed up in tri colours and people will watch his bowling tomorrow. His mother prayed for him in a nearby temple, she also downloaded some mantra from Internet and loaded that to his son’s mobile and said to hear those before leaving for the ground.

Like Sourav Ganguly’s mother she never watched his son’s game. Ishan called her and said that not to be worried and assured that he will perform well and make them proud.
