Internet Desk: ICC U-19 World Cup has given a lot of new talents to world who has done tremendously well in the senior level. Players like Virat Kohli, Kane Williamson, Brain Lara, Inzamam-ul-Haq and Sanath Jayasuriya came in to the limelight by playing really well in this mega event.

www.xtratime.in will let you know everything about the each individual who will wear the blue jersey in the upcoming World Cup which is set to start from January 13, 2018. The U-19 colts will face Australia in their opening game which will start from January 14.

Today we will talk about Shivam Mavi. Though this young fellow has already played a lot of U-19 games he hasn’t played any game for his state side Uttar Pradesh as of know.

He is mainly a right-arm medium pacer, but can help the side with the bat at lower order in difficult times.

Shivam  attracted the selector’s attention after his performance in the zonal level ‘Challengers’ tournament as he bagged 9 wickets in four matches.

Mavi trained at Delhi Wanderers Cricket Academy in Nodia, under his coach Phoolchand Sharma for last ten years. He describes Mavi as confident but reticent player, who rarely says much but for whom cricket is everything. “Even when he was injured, Shivam would come to the ground, even if he just sat there the whole day.”

He considers South African speed star Dale Steyn his idol and believes that one day he will wear Indian National team cap.

He is currently in Mumbai and he will be joining the camp in Bangalore from December 18-22. He will be flying to New Zealand on December 22 for the tournament.
