Image Source: XtraTime[/caption] Sabyasachi Bagchi, Siliguri: Almost a century old rivalry, the biggest one in Asia and more importantly a game which could seal the fate of the illusive Hero I-League title as Mohun Bagan is all set to take on Kingfisher East Bengal in another historic Kolkata derby on Sunday. The same horizon which seemed aeons away in January 2017 is now within the eyesight and fast approaching. The twilight of the 2017 I-League season is upon the fans now. The dense smog around the future of the I-League title is now clearing and there remain three contenders ready for a "battle royale" as the future of the league is uncertain after IMG-R's approach to involve the Kolkata giants in their Indian Super League. Right from the Siliguri bus stand, the city of North Bengal is decorated with attractive hoarding of the iconic clash. Some of the hoardings featured East Bengal's hero in the Kolkata Derby of the previous season Do Dong Hyun as well. Unfortunately, the truth is speaking something else as the excitement of the most ancient rivalry in Indian football hasn't reached to its usual height as yet. The match ticket counters are also telling the same story of disappointment. Might be a lot of supporters are still on their way from Kolkata and haven't reached as yet, but as of the craze is no where near to the last leg battle. The Mohun Bagan side emphasized on their set piece movements and situational training. Sony Norde and Katsumi were seen taking corner kicks one after another and Pritam Kotal was seen delivering crosses into the box with his trademark overlapping runs. Impressive Azharuddin Mullick will start as an U22 player on the upfront with Darryl Duffy. Sehnaj and Souvik Chakraborty are likely to start in the central midfield. On the other hand, Kingfisher East Bengal had allowed the first fifteen minutes of the training session and trained with all four foreigners, wiping out all the injury concerns. For the first time it seems, that East Bengal will play with all four foreigners in a Kolkata derby this season. Though the Red and Gold brigade might be in trouble as they didn't pick their two experienced Indian defenders Arnab Mondal and Anwar in their derby squad. Gurwinder and Bukenya are the only experienced central defenders available for Trevor Morgan. Indian international Robin Singh also have a groin injury and didn't take part in the training today. Probable Team: Mohun Bagan: Debjit, Pritam, Anas, Eduardo, Raju, Sony, Sehnaj, Souvik/Balwant, Katsumi, Duffy, Azharuddin Mullick East Bengal: Rehenesh, Bheke, Bukenya, Gurwinder, Robert, Abinas, Mehtab, Rowlin, Wedson, Payne, Plaza. Situations: Mohun Bagan have the luxury of a game in hand but need to ensure they gather four points or more (from their five games) than what Aizawl gets (in their four games), provided the Mohun Bagan vs Aizawl game is a draw or a win for Mariners. As far as East Bengal are concerned, Mohun Bagan's tally from the last five games should be one point more than what East Bengal gets from four games, provided they win the Kolkata derby. If not, it has to be at least two points more than East Bengal.
