XtraTime Desk: Dreams get shattered for the fans as Kingfisher East Bengal suffers a shocking 2-1 defeat against I-League minnows Gokulam FC in what asked to be a must win game for the Red and Gold brigade in Kerala on Saturday.

It was East Bengal who took the lead in the last minute before the half time, as Katsumi Yusa slotted home from the penalty spot. It was Calvin Lobo, who was released into the box and Chigozie barged into him, completely failing to get the ball. Referee pointed to the spot and awarded the penalty.

Gokulam fought back immediately in the 51st minute of the second half with a fine build up play. Irshad passed to Kisseka who released Zhimomi on goal from the edge of the bos. Kivi made no mistake as he slotted the ball past Ubaid to make it 1-1

The dreams got dashed in the 87th minute when Salam Ranjan Singh shot the ball into his own net in the process of clearing the cross of Arjun to make it 2-1 in favour of the home team.

There was drama in the last few minutes, as Irshad and Arnab Mondal, the captains of both the teams got back to back red cards. The defeat would add to the wounds of the millions of East Bengal fans who have been starving for the illusive title for the last 15 years.
