I-League 2017-18: Minerva goes on top after a controversial victory over Lajong

Internet Desk: A late strike from Bali Gagandeep helped Minerva Punjab to reach the top spot of the I-League again as they beat Shillong Lajong 3-2 in a nail biter today at the Tau Devi Lal stadium in Panchkula, Punjab. The hosts were leading the match 2-0 in the first-half thanks to two goals from Eric Dano and Bali Gagandeep. But later in the second-half the visitors made a dramatic return in a span of four minutes. Daniel Odafin reduced the gape on the 60th minute of the game in just 3 minutes time; Laurence Doe made it 2-2 with a brilliant strike.

Bali Gagandeep became the hero for the home side again as his brilliant left footer went into the nets on the 80th minute of the game. In the 90th minute of the game Abdoulaye Koffi equalized again for the visitors but the referee denied a legitimate goal which helped the hosts to win the game 3-2. With this win Minerva is holding the top spot with 29 points from 13 matches.
