Internet Desk: Former BCCI General Manager (Operations) MV Sridhar passed away on Monday due to a massive cardiac attack in Hyderabad. The 51 year old is survived by his wife. Sridhar also played first class cricket for Hyderabad.
Sridhar very recently held the post of General Manager (Operations) of the BCCI but was forced to quit the post few months back under controversial circumstances.
He also served as the media manager of the Indian team during that infamous tour Down Under in 2007. He was appreciated for handling the Harbhajan Singh-Andrew Symonds monkeygate controversy when the Indian team threatened to return to the country. He was also the manager of the Indian team during the ODI series in the Caribbean after the ICC Champions Trophy in England. He handled the team in the absence of Anil Kumble, who resigned as coach.
He also served as interim coach for the Hyderabad side in the 2010-11 seasons, taking over towards the end of the season after Venkatapathi Raju resigned. He was appointed the Tournament Director for the ICC World T20 in 2016 in India. He also served as the secretary of the Hyderabad Cricket Association in July 2012.
Sridhar has played 97 first class matches for Hyderabad and has a triple century under his belt. He scored 366 runs against Andhra Pradesh in a Ranji Trophy match in January 1994. He has scored over 6701 runs that included 21 centuries and 27 half centuries.
