Image Source: twitter[/caption] Internet Desk: Former All India Football Federation (AIFF) President and Congress Party leader Priya Ranjan Dasmunsi has breathed his last today at the age of 72. He was in coma since 2008; with this the Indian football has lost it’s one of the greatest administrators of all time. Dasmunsi was the President of the AIFF from 1988 to 2008. After his stroke Praful Patel became the President of the parent body of Indian football. Former Minister, Priya Ranjan Dasmunsi was admitted at the Apollo Hospital in New Delhi and after nine years of fight he finally breathed his last. He was the first person from India to play the role of a match commissioner in a FIFA World Cup match. During the 2006 FIFA World Cup in Italy he was the match commissioner of Spain vs Tunisia group league game. He also did the same in the game between Australia and Croatia in Group stages. Though this was not the first time that he was involved in a World Cup, he was a part of the 1998 FIFA World Cup in France too. Dasmunsi also chaired the legal committee of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) and was also an honorary member of FIFA’s standing committee. Dasmunsi had once headed the legal committee of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) and was a member of world football governing body FIFA’s standing committee. Here goes the official statement of the hospital after Priya Ranjan Dasmunsi’s death: With profound grief we wish to inform the passing of Hon’ble Sh. Priyaranjan Dasmunshi Ji, former Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting who was under treatment at our hospital. He had been critically ill for the past one month and unfortunately succumbed to his illness at 12.10 pm on 20.11.17. His family members including Smt. Deepa Dasmunshi and their son were at his bedside at the time of his passing. On behalf of the doctors and staff of Indraprastha Apollo Hospitals staff we extend our heartfelt condolences to the family in this hour of grief.
