UCL 2016: Arsenal draws Bayern Munich, Barcelona meet PSG in last 16

UCL
Bayern Munich will meet Arsenal in the last 16 of the Champions League.

Internet Desk: Reigning champions Real Madrid drew Napoli in the last 16 of Champions League in the draw held at Nyon on Monday. In a repeat of last year, Arsenal will once again meet Bayern Munich, while Barcelona will come up against familiar foes in the shape of Paris Saint-Germain.

Arsene Wenger’s side had hoped winning their group for the first time in five years would spare them a tie against one of the continent’s giants in the first knockout round, but instead they must face Carlo Ancelotti’s German champions.

Bayern eliminated Arsenal en route to winning the trophy in 2012/13 and repeated the feat a year later, while the teams also met in the group stage last season.

PSG came second to Arsenal in Group A, leaving them vulnerable to a tough draw and five-time winners Barcelona have eliminated the French club in the quarter-finals in two of the past four seasons.

Premier League champions Leicester City will take on last season’s Europa League winners Sevilla, with Atletico Madrid drawn against Bayer Leverkusen. Italian giants Juventus drew FC Porto while Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City faces a testing two-legged encounter against Monaco. Borussia Dortmund will face the challenge of Benfica in last 16.

The first legs matches of Champions League will be played on February 14/15 and 21/22 while the second legs will be played on March 7/8 and 14/15.
