Internet Desk: East Zone’s wicket-kipper batsman Ishan Kishan played a brilliant knock of 67 runs in just 36 balls as Manoj Tiwary’s side beat Central Zone by seven wickets in their opening match with seventeen balls still left in the Mushtaq Ali T-20 Inter Zonal League in Mumbai on Monday.

The Jharkhand batsman hit Central Zone bowlers through all parts of the ground as he hit one boundary and seven gigantic sixes during his play. Except Ishan his fellow team-mate Ishank Jaggi played a useful knock of 51 runs and remained not out.

Earlier East Zone skipper Manoj Tiwary won the toss and elected to field first against Central Zone. Captain of Central Zone Naman Ojha played an anchor role during their innings as he scored 51 runs for his side. He got the backing from his team-mate Harpreet Singh Bhatia who scored 48 runs as Central Zone reached 151 in their allotted Twenty overs. Bengal bowling sphere head Ashoke Dinda and Sayan Ghosh were the pick of the bowlers as they both took two wickets for their side.

In reply Ishan Kishan (67) and Ishank Jaggi (51*) played the lead role in East Zone’s chase. Skipper Manoj Tiwary (10*) and Ishank Jaggi remained not out at the end of the innings.

According Ishan Kishan this innings is very special for him.He said,”I am very happy because I won it for my team. I love to play attacking shots always but it is not possible to get success everyday but today was my day.I connected all the shots well and this innings will give me huge confidence in upcoming match against Australia.I want play as many matches as I can for East Zone before joining indian A team.”

In another match West Zone beat North Zone by 8 wickets.
