East Bengal’s famous midfielder passed away

Kolkata: Chuni Goswami, Jarnail Singh and Mangal Purokayastha’s contemporary footballer Santosh Chatterjee is no more. After suffering from different diseases for a long time, the former East Bengal left winger breathed his last yesterday at his own residence. The former Bengal and East Bengal midfielder was 78 years old.

The popular left winger of the 1960’s also got a national team call up but unfortunately couldn’t quite get the opportunity to play for the nation. His son Nilanjan Chatterjee told www.xtratime.in , “We brought him back home from the hospital in the lazt week only, hoping he would be recovering soon. But today, he left us forever in the morning.”

The former footballer also has his wife and his daughter, who got shattered in his death.
