East Bengal desperate to snatch ace Indian footballer from Mohun Bagan

Kolkata: As the day of the drafting of the Indian player draws near, Kolkata giants Mohun Bagan and East Bengal become equally desperate to sign the Indian stars. Though the two Kolkata outfits have signed quite a few stars, however the two teams who would be playing the I-League this season want to sign as many players as they could afford.

After failing to sign him the previous season, as a result East Bengal are desperate to sign this forward from the rival camp. From the very beginning Mohun Bagan wanted to sign Balwant Singh for the upcoming season and it can be said that the Punjabi forward was also keen on signing for the Mariners. Though a lot of franchisee wanted to sign Balwant, rivals East Bengal have offered a similar sum of money as that of Bagan to the forward. Balwant who was set to decide his upcoming future today, either by allotting himself to the draft or by signing for the Green and Maroon, have now decided to think over after this new approach from the Red and Gold.

There has been a huge demand for Ashutosh Mehta, Balwant Singh, Jayesh Rane and Rino Anto by both the clubs. The Red and Golden brigade wanted to rope in Ashutosh Mehta using Khaleed Jamil when he was appointed as the coach of the club. He was also offered a big sum of money by the East Begal, however owing to his brilliance performance in the previous season; this defender has been seeked by many ISL franchisees. In the mean time Mohun Bagan has made such a lucrative offer for Mehta that has made the defender to think about joining his new club.
