Kolkata: Ahead of their opening match against Bhawanipur FC on 4th August at Kalyani stadium, East Bengal played their last practice tie against CCFC today which they won by a huge margin of 6-0 in CCFC ground.

Coach Trevor Morgan did not play any of his first xi players as it was a rainy day and the chances of the players getting injured were high. So the second xi of the Red and Gold brigade along with some academy players got a chance to show their skills.

Bikash Jairu (2) along with a goal each from Robert, Samad, Deepak Kumar and academy boy from Manipur Bidya Singh sealed the deal for East Bengal which impressed coach Morgan after the match.

East Bengal secretary Kalyan Majumdar was present in the ground to watch the match and before the match was commenced he shook hands with all the players from both the teams and wished them all the best for the match.

Trevor Morgan looked very happy and satisfied with his second team’s performance as he said, “I am very happy with the way the boys have performed. Hope to see some of these guys in the senior team soon.”

East Bengal will be playing their most of the matches in Kalyani this time in the CFL which is located in the outskirts of the city and it takes almost a 2 hours long bus journey to reach there and there could be a tendency of the players getting tired before the match. On this issue, Trevor said, “In Kolkata when there is traffic jam it takes me almost 2-3 hours to reach Howrah from Salt Lake by car. So these are not all any issues. My players know that very well and they will be fit to go and play in Kalyani.”

Morgan had to face again the question regarding the third foreigner as East Bengal was supposed to sign Wedson but it failed and the Red and Gold team management had to forcibly sign Adelaja. Morgan was quoted as saying, “I had wait a long for Wedson but he did not turn up. I cannot wait for someone for ages. I selected Wedson by watching his videos. I needed a striker as we were short upfront and took Adelaja as his replacement. I am sure he will do well for East Bengal.”
