Xtra Time[/caption] Kolkata: After a span of 27 years Mohun Bagan played their first CFL on their home ground and it was a dream start for the young and inexperienced Mohun Bagan side as they beat giant-killers Aryan 5-1 in their opening game of CFL campaign. Duffy scored a hattrick while Azharuddin and Prabir Das netted a goal each for the Mariners. Aryan's Kazeem reduced the deficit in the fag end of the match. Mohun Bagan had the upper hand in the opening 15 minutes ans continuous attacks made the Aryan defense crumble as a result Prabir Das (15') opened the scoring and gave Bagan the all important lead in the match. Conceding the goal Aryan players tried to build in pressure with some movements inside but failed to get the equaliser in a wet outfield and the duo of Tanmoy Kundu and Moses kept on repeating silly errors throughout the match and missed sitters. In the second half, Bagan coach Shankarlal changed his game plan and gave more stress on his wingplay and pulled back Duffy slightly behind Azhar so that the inexperience midfield of Mohun Bagan gets more support and it becomes easier for youngster Azhar to get more balls in the forward line. Duffy scored his hattrick within a span of 12 minutes. The first came in the 62nd minute from a free-kick outside the box. The second one was in the 66th minute through a push from Prabir's cross which the Scottish striker did not make any mistake to put in and the hattrick came in the 74th minute through a header from Prabir Das's center. Prabir Das was electrical in the wings for Mohun Bagan today. The Mariners got their fifth and final goal through Azhar from a Robinson Singh pass and it nailed the last pin in their coffin. Kazeem reduced the deficit in the 89th minute but it was not enough for Aryan. With this victory, Mohun Bagan won their first match after a span of 4 years 7 months in their home ground. After the match, Duffy said, "I want to dedicate the hattrick to wife and family. The atmosphere was terrific with the Mexican waves waving around the ground under floodlights." Coach Shankarlal looked very happy with his team's performance. On asking him about his Man of the match, Duffy or Prabir he said, "Mohun Bagan team is the man of the match. The boys worked out their plans in the second half well.  Hope they will continue playing like this in the next matches."
