Kolkata: As reported by XtraTime.in on yesterday, India's Honourable Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday spoke to some of the country’s supreme sportspersons, via video conference. During the interaction PM Modi asked the superstars of Indian sports like Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly and PV Sindhu to reach out to the masses and spread the message of positivity during the crisis owing to the coronavirus pandemic. Prime Minister asked them to include the following five points in their message to people: ‘sankalp’ to fight the pandemic, ‘sanyam’ to follow social distancing, ‘sakaratmakta’ to maintain positivity, ‘samman’ to respect the frontline soldiers in this battle including the medical fraternity, the police personnel etc and ‘sahyog’ at personal level as well as at national level through contribution to PM-CARES fund. He also asked them to highlight the importance of both physical and mental fitness and also popularize guidelines released by AYUSH Ministry. First it was The BCCI President Sourav Ganguly who spoke to the Prime Minister. Modi ji too praised the former India Captain for his contribution during the tough times. Sachin came to speak at no.4, identical where he used to bat for India in test matches. Sachin told Modi ji, "I used to bat for India at no.4, here too I am talking to you at no.4. I helped India to win matches from there and it's time again to contribute during a tough situation like this." Modi ji too explained why he requested the nation to light diya on 5th April. As per the Prime Minister, 5th April is 'Bamana Dadasi' and on this day the sun offers maximum heat on the universe. As per Modi ji, the Coronavirus spreads mainly at night. Hence, the initiative might help to fight against it, if everyone lights candles, diya and torch. More than 40 top sportspersons across different sports, including Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly, Women’s Hockey team captain Ms. Rani Rampal, ace badminton player PV Sindhu, Kabaddi player Ajay Thakur, sprinter Hima Das, Sharad Kumar, tennis player Ankita Raina, cricketer Yuvraj Singh and Virat Kohli participated in the video conference.
