XtraTime Web Desk: Dinesh Karthik replaced skipper Virat Kohli in India’s playing XI for the final T20I of the three match series in Cape Town. He was just 17 runs away from a world record as he could be the first Indian to score 2000 runs in T20 Internationals. Now he has to wait for another T20I series to do the record.
Kohli ruled out for his injury as stop gap skipper Rohit Sharma said, “Virat (Kohli) has a stiff back and he needs some rest. It has been a long season for him and unfortunately he misses out but gives someone else a chance to step up,” during the toss.
Indian skipper led from the front in this tour in every format of the game as he scored 286 runs in the test series where India suffered 2-1 loss. He scored 558 runs in six-match ODI series.
Kohli manged to score just 27 runs in the first two T20Is, India will look to end the tour in a good note by winning this match but, it could be a tough match for them. Dinesh Karthik replaced the skipper for this match.
Kohli may not play in the upcoming tri-series at Sri Lanka. Where India will face Bangladesh and the host nation Sri Lanka.
